5 Days for 50 Dollars

Kayla from Kayla K’s Thrifty Ways is doing a great project this week. She’s combining thrift store finds to put together a week’s worth of outfits for just $50. Kayla says she notices that college students can get by just fine on t-shirts and jeans but that senior year comes as a shock when they need clothes suitable for internships, student teaching, and interviews. Kayla will model five ensembles appropriate for student teaching, and I think, just about any professional or office environment.

This photo is Tuesday’s contribution. So cute!  I will definitely be checking back in this week. She’ll also be highlighting the green aspect of thrift shopping.

For those of you who love to sew, Kayla shares lots of sewing projects and patterns on her blog. She made this adorable baby cardigan that will be packaged in a layette and donated to Lutheran World Relief before Easter. It’s part of her idea to give things away rather than give things up for Lent this year.

Kayla also posts recipes and craft projects, so check it out. And don’t forget to check back in to see what other thrifty outfits she comes up with this week.

Could you put together five work outfits for under $50? What are your favorite go-to professional pieces? Share your thoughts in the Comments section.

Kayla’s website has been on my list to check out for quite some time. Now that you have highlighted this series that she is doing, I will definitely try to check in on my lunchtime tomorrow. My favorite go-to piece for work is Charter Club khakis (my office is business casual). . . they have a slimming effect on a middle age (did I just say that??!) figure.

Hey Robbie Kay, I go through phases of loving khakis even more than jeans, when they’re worn in they’re SO soft and comfortable, and they go with almost anything. Hope you like Kayla’s blog. Thanks for commenting!
