I’m in Yahoo finance!

Check out this nice write up about my year of buying nothing new, by Gail Johnson of Yahoo! Canada Finance. She actually listened to what I said in the interview, and didn’t make me sound like a total weirdo.

I was looking for a new, “fun” photo to accompany the article, and decided on this one. My husband thought this pose in schoolmarm garb outside Jane Austen’s house was a bit too close to type, but there you go. I guess I’m a type: older sister, schoolteacher, community volunteer. I probably would have been part of the Women’s Temperance Movement if I had lived in another era. Since I enjoy a nice glass of wine, as well as a martini or margarita on occasion, it’s a good thing for me I didn’t.

Thanks Gail!

It’s so funny to look at that article and picture and think “Hey, I know her!” when really I just “know” you on the interwebs. But it feels like we’re friends, since I’ve been reading your blog for such a long time…keep up the great work.

Lilypad, I know what you mean about feeling like you know people when you’ve never met in person, and I agree. I definitely feel like some bloggers and some of my long-time readers are friends. Thanks for sticking around through thick and thin (posting-wise) and thanks for taking the time to participate and comment frequently. I really appreciate it, and frankly if I didn’t get comments and emails I’d feel like I was speaking to no one and never would have kept writing the blog this long.

Naturally, I’m thrilled by the writeup itself–but even more so by your choice of photo and its location. A “pose in schoolmarm garb outside Jane Austen’s house” RULES!

BTW, you may be intrigued by a website called ThriftyJane (http://thriftyjane.wordpress.com/). Its authors–who, like me, are members of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA)–have a book coming out next year called Jane Austen’s Guide to Thrift.

      Ha, thanks!
Thanks for that link, I will definitely check it out. I am not a member of JASNA, but attend a “Jane Austen Ball” every January and it is one of the highlights of my year.

Thanks so much for commenting. :)

    Well done!
It’s also lovely to hear that the interviewer represented you accurately!

As a regular reader of your blog for a number of years, it “sounds” like you!
