Welcome to Thrifty Threads, AKA Most Stylish Compact-y outfit, where readers model their favorite secondhand clothes.
A compact-y outfit is used or recycled, from Goodwill, a thrift store, a consignment shop, ebay, Craigslist, a yard sale, a clothing swap, or anywhere else you find used clothing.
Today’s models are Katy and her 3-year-old daughter Gracia. It’s a mother/daughter Thrifty Threads, I love it! Gracia looks absolutely adorable in her 99 cent Goodwill jacket. And she looks happy too! Katy says she loves to go to the Goodwill with her and play in the toy section.
Katy also got her jeans at the Goodwill for $4.99 and a belt that we can’t see for just 99 cents. Those are all fabulous bargains that are perfect examples of why it’s so smart to shop secondhand. Katy says that seeing the cute outfits other people get on Thrifty Threads inspires her to shop at Goodwill more often, and that she’s gotten a coffeemaker, thank you cards, and a cute basket there in addition to clothes.
Katy blogs at Purposely Frugal, where she writes about food waste, and shares recipes, crafts, and tips for frugal gifts, from the perspective of growing up as a MK, which stands for Missionary Kid. She and her husband and daughter now live in West Texas, where they are pursuing mission aviation so that they can realize their dream of being a missionary family with her husband as a pilot. I like the series Katy posts on the blog, Frugal Fitness and Lessons in Laundry.
Katy, thanks so much for that excellent photo! Those jeans fit you perfectly, which can be difficult, so I consider those a particularly great find. I never cease to be amazed by what people find at Goodwill. Readers, it’s your turn! Put on your favorite secondhand outfit, snap a photo, and send it to me at barton.angela@gmail.com. Please put “Thrifty Threads” in the subject line so I can sort it from the spam. And don’t forget, we all love to see your fabulous finds! Young, old, male, female, large, small – all are welcome on Thrifty Threads.
