I’m very excited to share The Frugal Girl’s fabulous ebook with you, and give away a free copy to one lucky winner. I know this book intimately because I edited it for her, and I came away with some great ideas for new ways to use old clothes. This is perfect for anyone who sews, has children, is frugal, or wants to follow the Compact. There are simple projects that are perfect for kids, like making clothes for dolls and stuffed animals, as well as more complicated projects for those of you who like to sew, like turning a pair of old pants into a skirt. And in addition to giving you ideas for holiday gifts you can make yourself, the book would make a perfect gift for a crafty person. I’ve already given it to two friends myself and they are thrilled with it.
I absolutely love this book and there are at least five projects in here that I want to do with my niece, and I don’t even sew. I think we’ll tackle a headband, a purse out of pant legs, and flowers to decorate both of them. And making a tote bag out of a used T-shirt is a brilliant way to keep your reusable bag collection well-stocked. As always, Kristen shares her ideas and skills in a simple yet creative way that everyone can understand. It’s really inspiring.
If you’d like to win a copy of “Reuse, Refresh, Repurpose” simply leave a comment with your best tip about what to do with old clothes. I’ll pick a winner at random at midnight on Tuesday Dec. 13th. That’s tomorrow night, so leave your comment now! And if you aren’t the lucky winner, visit The Frugal Girl and buy a copy for yourself. It’s only $3.99 and I guarantee you won’t be sorry.

If I cannot give old clothes to various family members, or to our local Huntington Center , I use them for rags or dog toys.
Cate says
Honestly, this is something I desperately need help with! My solution is usually something like “Cut them into rags.” I would love to win this so I can get some new ideas!
Jennifer says
I would love to win a copy! So old clothes around here get passed down from big sis to little sis, donated to yardsales (church or preschool), taken to goodwill, or my favorite girl clothes get saved to be used in future quilts for me (or maybe the girls).
Angela says
Jennifer, I have a trunk of “memory” clothes that I plan to make into a quilt when I’m older – I want quilting to be my “old lady” craft. Our aunt is 99 and she still makes quilts!
Thanks for commenting!

I need all the help I can get. Would love this!
Molly says
My old tshirts get used as rags. My old socks get used as rags. I don’t feel so bad about chucking them after a particularly gross cleanup, and I’m saving on rags!

You’re the winner! Thanks for entering and enjoy the book!

Well, what I do with old(er) clothes is nothing new or earth-shattering…. Every season, I go through mine and my husband’s closets and weed out clothing that we don’t wear for whatever reason (stil in condition of course). Then I take them to a local church thrift shop where they sell clothing for very cheap (nothing is over $5) . The church makes a lttle money, people in need can get some inexpensive clothing, and we downsize our “stuff”!
Theresa says
I hang on to them as long as I can and then donate them or turn them into work clothes and ‘homemade’ paper towels for various projects.
Maddy says
Hi Angela! Up until very recently, I would donate my stuff to the local thrift store. However, I’ve just recently started repurposing old clothes for new projects. For example, I made a pair of cozy warm pants for my baby using the sleeves of one of my old sweaters. I’d love the FG’s book to help get those creative juices flowing even more!
Angela says
Great idea, Maddy! That’s exactly the kind of thing Kristen writes about. She has 20 ideas like that – I know you’d love it!
Thanks for entering!

I get my mom’s hand-me-downs…she is 50 i’m 28 and she has way better style than me, my clothes drive her crazy so she gives me her old ones hahaha. When my clothes or my children’s clothes (all purchased at yard sales or thrift stores) are stained beyond help I drop them off at the animal shelter. They get paid by the pound for the clothing and stuffed animals they have donated. I would love ideas on how to get more use out of clothes especially my kids clothes!

I like to convert jeans into shorts…
Melissa says
Obviously, I need this book! All I usually do is cut them into rags!
Hilda says
I’ve made Christmas stockings for my son and family and 2 of them were made from old Levis. They turned out cute. Also my daughter-in-law decorated her church for Christmas, with giant (really giant) mittens made from sweaters she had found at yard sales and thrift stores. The waistline of the sweater makes the cuff of the giant mitten. She is creative.
Angela says
Hilda, You are so creative! I love the Christmas stocking idea, and the mittens are one of the ideas Kristen shares in her book that I love.
Thanks for the comment!

This looks like a great book! We made a handbag out of an old pair of jeans, and it came out really well. Usually I just rip up old clothes into cleaning rags.
nrhatch says
I generally bag them up and drop them off at Goodwill. How uninspired! 😆
Thanks for hosting this giveaway.
Nadine says
I took my husband and mine old jeans (about 7 pairs) cut the legs into 1/2 inch strips (cut the seams out) and then crochet the strips into a rug for my bathroom. It looks really good and has been in there for about 6 months.
Angela says
Nadine, What a fantastic idea. A rag rug! Please take a photo and send it to me, anytime. I would love to post it on the blog.
Thanks!
BethK says
Dang, sorry I missed the cut off. It looks like an awesome book and I will probably buy it anyway.
Angela says
Beth, You should go buy it, you won’t be disappointed!
