If you’re looking for some non-consumer holiday gift wrapping ideas, here are a few options for you. I haven’t bought wrapping paper for several years, I use it over and over and it turns out like the package on the left. I cut up old Christmas cards and save wrapping paper from gifts I receive and turn it into a package like this. Click here to read last year’s post on Green and Frugal Gift Wrap.

And finally, my favorite wrapping style that I’ve yet to try is the Japanese art of Furoshiki, which uses a large piece of fabric to wrap up a gift. It’s completely green because there’s nothing to throw away, the fabric can be used over and over. You can buy a lovely Furoshiki cloth for a pretty penny, or you can get resourceful and use an old scarf or a fabric remnant. I enjoyed watching the Furoshiki video. My friend always brings her potluck items, including casseroles, in this style wrapping but I never knew the other ways. Very clever, and I’m going to be trying this after I pick up some inexpensive pieces of fabric. Thanks Angela for posting. Hilda
