Welcome to Thrifty Threads, AKA Most Stylish Compact-y outfit, where readers model their favorite secondhand clothes.
A compact-y outfit is used or recycled, from Goodwill, a thrift store, a consignment shop, a yard sale, Craigslist, ebay, or anywhere else you find used clothing.
Today’s model is Isla (pronounced eye-la), whose mom sent in these photos of her 20-month old daughter wearing two different tops that were originally given to her older sister as gifts. Isla is the third girl in her family to wear these same cute shirts, and her mom says since they’re big on passing down clothes, it’s fortuitous that they have three similarly built girls who can share.
Aw. What a cutie. Hand-me-downs are an excellent way to be thrifty when you have kids, and you can also find great deals on children’s clothing in thrift stores and at Goodwill. Kids grow so fast that it seems they don’t have time to wear things out before they’ve outgrown them. So a lot of the stuff that ends up there is very lightly worn.
Thanks to Isla’s mom Angela, for sending in those adorable photos! I love to get baby and kid photos. Readers, it’s your turn. Put on your favorite secondhand outfit, snap a photo, and send it to me at barton.angela@gmail.com. Don’t be shy, we all love to see your fabulous finds. Remember, anyone can be a Thrifty Threads model, as long as you’re human. That’s where I draw the line. But homo sapiens of all ages, genders, races, sizes and shapes… we welcome your participation.
