It’s time (actually past time, since Thrifty Threads usually appears on Thursdays) for another installment of Thrifty Threads, AKA Most Stylish Compact-y outfit, where readers model their favorite secondhand clothes.
A compact-y outfit is used or recycled, from Goodwill, a thrift shop, a consignment store, ebay, freecycle, craigslist, a yard sale, a clothing swap, or anywhere else you find used clothing.
Today’s model is Stephanie, who has been featured on Thrifty Threads many times since she’s such a secondhand fashionista. I love this dress! Stephanie says it filled her “Donna Reed show wardrobe hole.” I don’t know if Donna Reed ever wore anything that stunning. The color is amazing. This dress came from a thrift store in Dallas, and the price was just $3.99. Wow. If that doesn’t send you out thrift shopping, I don’t know what will.
You can see Stephanie’s talent for scoring secondhand finds on her blog Those Tricks. The tagline is “a thrifty style blog,” and if you enjoy Thrifty Threads, I know you’ll like her blog. In fact, you should head over there right now because she’s doing a giveaway of a beautiful vintage scarf, purse, and belt. Click here to get in on the giveaway by this Saturday night. You have a little more than 24 hours to put in a comment and be entered to win.
I love the other photos Stephanie posted of this dress, which in addition to being a gorgeous color and very flattering, has the added perks of pockets and a swingy skirt. She’s captured the color and movement beautifully and artistically in this post.
Oh, and one other thing: Stephanie recently featured this fabulous interview with the lovely Marisa of New Dress a Day, whose enthusiasm for thrifting is infectious, and whose creativity, sewing skills, and charm are off the charts.
Thanks Stephanie, for yet another fabulous photo! You continue to be a fashion inspiration, and the fact that you’re doing it on a secondhand budget makes it all the more remarkable. Okay readers, it’s your turn! Put on your favorite secondhand outfit, snap a photo, and send it to me at barton.angela@gmail.com. You might be the catalyst for someone else to get smart and stylish, by taking up thrift store shopping. I always need more submissions, and I welcome all models: young and old, big and small, male and female. I would love to get more submissions from outside the United States!
Readers, please leave your best advice for scoring secondhand gold, plus compliments for Stephanie in the Comments section.
